Collection: Azienda Agricola Contrada Marettima

The Azienda Agricola Contrada Marettima is located in Laureana Cilento, about 80 kilometers south of Naples and just below the Amalfi Coast. It is a passion project of Guido Zampaglione, the owner of the Piedmontese Tenuta Grillo, who recently founded it together with two friends.

The protagonists are Campania’s two great grape varieties, Aglianico and Fiano. However—unlike in their native home around Avellino—they turn out somewhat softer and more approachable in the Mediterranean climate of Cilento. That said, Guido’s ideas have clearly left their mark, one of which is that there’s no reason to be afraid of tannins. Interestingly, these come across as surprisingly mellow both in his skin-fermented Fiano and in the Aglianico. As a result, both wines make excellent companions for a wide range of dishes while at the same time offering a perfect introduction to the wine worlds of Campania.
