Corrado Dottori is responding to rising temperatures and, with “Le Vagabonde” from the Manciano site, has been bottling since 2024 a wine whose vines face north. His intention is to create a vibrant and elegant counterpoint to Gli Eremi, which grows opposite in the San Michele site and—exposed to the south there—turns out fuller-bodied and more substantial.

Corrado’s Verdicchio–Trebbiano cuvée is dedicated to the book Hymn to the Vagabonds by Gilles Clément. Clément is a French gardener and landscape architect, and his “vagabonds” are precisely those plants commonly referred to as weeds. Corrado lists some of his weeds on the back label and describes them metaphorically and sympathetically as punks ante litteram who occupy free and abandoned places and create new worlds there.

The world the wine evokes is shaped by herbs, minerality, coolness, citrus fruits, apples, and faintly earthy notes. Thanks to the calcareous soils and often cool nighttime temperatures, its texture is taut and linear, the finish vertical and direct.
