Collection: The Wines of Nikolas Juretic

Nikolas took over his family’s winery in Cormons, in the Collio region, a few years ago. He subsequently converted his vineyards—spread around the town and rooted in “Ponca” soils (flysch, opok: calcareous sedimentary rock)—to biodynamic cultivation. The key grape varieties in the vineyards are the regional classics: Friulano, Ribolla Gialla, and Malvasia. In the small cellar, the winemaking is gentle, artisanal, and as minimalistic as possible—with skin fermentation, used oak barrels, and only minimal additions of sulfur.

Through constant exchange with experienced local winemakers such as Aleks Klinec, his meticulous, site-specific approach to different vineyard parcels, vintages, and cellar developments, and an extraordinary instinct for finesse, Nikolas has, in a remarkably short time, become one of Italy’s top producers. His wines show precision and tension, freshness and depth.
