The Tonsur originates on the other side of the Eisack Valley, in a vineyard on the Ritten, the local mountain of the people of Bolzano. The vineyard is called Oberplatten. However, as Martin Gojer's wines are labelled as IGT or simply as Vino Bianco, he is not allowed to put the vineyard name on the label. But he can use the name as inspiration. And turn Oberplatten into a TONSUR.

The Oberplatten vineyard is a leased vineyard that probably not all winegrowers would have rented. In principle, two thirds Müller-Thurgau are not a hugely attractive factor, which cannot be compensated for by one third Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco and Sylvaner. However, Martin Gojer does not really belong to the stereotypes of the South Tyrolean winemaking world - the names of the grape varieties are only of limited importance to him. Much more important to him is the terrain in which the vines are rooted, the environment, the climate and also the history of the vines. They actually belong to Thomas Kohl, who is known throughout Italy for his organic apple juices, and were therefore carefully tended even before he leased them.

The soils are volcanically characterised, while the climatic conditions as an interface between alpine and maritime influences first manifest themselves in the grapes and later in the wine.

Yellow - in the eye and on the nose. Camomile & stone fruit. Compact, firmly structured and yet supple. Cool undertone. Powerful, juicy and full-bodied. Just at the beginning of its development.
