Lato Scuro: A Piwi Red with Depth and Elegance
Regent, a fungus-resistant grape variety, serves as the red counterpart to the orange Ambra crafted from Souvignier Gris.
The vines grow virtually untreated on gneiss and granite-rich soils in a steep hillside vineyard near Naturns in the northern Adige Valley. Hand-harvested grapes undergo a partial whole-cluster fermentation (maceration semi-carbonique) over 10 days. The "Lato Scuro" then matures for over a year in used tonneaux and barriques before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
A light-footed wine with notable depth, it pairs beautifully with Schlutzkrapfen or Brassato, presenting an elegant body and a long, velvety finish underscored by fruit.
