In 2010, Niki Moser decided to add a sparkling wine to his excellent wine series. The project was ambitious right from the start. He chose Chardonnay as the grape variety. And even though the subsoil and climate in the single vineyard Hollabern, a gravelly site in the Burgenland lowlands, has little in common with the Champagne, the end result shows few differences to the best sparkling wines produced there.
One reason for this is certainly the high quality of the grapes - thanks to decades of biodynamic cultivation. And probably also his experience, developed over a similarly long period of time, which allows him to make the right decisions at the right moments.
Whatever the case may be. Now in its ninth year of production, his Blanc de Blancs is one of the best sparkling wines you can find in Austria.
Style & flavours
Precise, finely chiselled, vital. Citrus, pome fruit and yeast notes. Kitsch-free, without residual sugar, dry, linear, with a pull towards the palate. Invigorating perlage. Guiding acidity. Despite its freshness, it is full-bodied and dense.
