The Masini brothers are usually one step ahead of their time. For example, they were among the first to allow their white grapes to come into contact with the skins for a few days and to refrain from adding sulphites to all their wines.
Decades of experience have not only made them pioneers and important contacts in an increasingly lively and experimental wine scene in Emilia, but year after year they also demonstrate the enormous potential of a region that is still far too often equated with sweet supermarket Lambrusco.
The Notte die Luna is a cuvée of Moscato Giallo, Spergola and Malvasia di Candia Aromatica. The latter two are extremely exciting indigenous varieties from Emilia, to which single-varietal vinifications are also dedicated. The Notte di Luna is fermented on the skins for 5 days and then matured for 12 months in large wooden barrels.
Style
Copper-coloured. Yellow and orange stone fruit flavours open the nose, followed and complemented by balsamic and earthy notes. Things get really exciting on the palate, where Malvasia and Moscato display all their power and intensity, yet are tied into a tight and structuring corset by the vital acidity of the Spergola. The texture is velvety, dense and juicy. Has enormous potential. Even more fun in large glasses than in classic white wine glasses.
