1368

At 1368 metres in the Andalusian Alpujarras lies the highest vineyard in Europe. It is cultivated by Barranco Oscuro. The wine made from it consists of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Garnacha and is, in our opinion at least, one of the most exciting, complex, vital and best red wines in the country.

The Valenzuela family's vineyards are all situated at an altitude of over 1200 metres, which has consequences. The wines have an astonishing freshness for this latitude (they same as Tunis). But that's not all. At an altitude of over 900 metres, the light also changes massively, becomes more intense and leads to a change in photosynthesis, which in turn has an effect on the plant, the grape skin and the pulp and ultimately also on the flavours.
