The Gräfin is the most subtle and elegant interpretation of Sauvignon Blanc that can be found between Leutschach and Sancerre in an orange colour. And an example of how the region can also be reflected in mash-fermented wines.
As with the Graf, the vines of the Gräfin are rooted in the centre of the Schlossberg, where the site is sometimes the steepest and the underlying Opok is only covered by a shallow layer of humus. The Koralpe, the mountain range bordering Styria and Carinthia to the west, ensures fresh summer and early autumn nights and an animating liveliness in the grapes and later in the wine.
The rest is in the hands of Sepp Muster, who has created an environment for his vines that is biodiverse and full of life, first in the grapes and later in his wine(s).
Playful, subtle and elegant. Lime. Lots of it. On the palate, but also on the nose. And herbs. Flowers. And then, with a little air, red berries. Taut and straightforward. Mineral. Subtle and crumbly tannin. Lively, multi-layered and powerful. Slimmer than the Graf but with the same depth and substance.
