Riesling Endschleife by roterfaden: A Paradigm of High-Quality Riesling
Although Württemberg is traditionally known as a red wine region, Riesling remains an integral part of the wine landscape, even in Swabia.
What Hannes and Olympia from roterfaden achieve with their Riesling diverges significantly from the typical German Riesling stereotype.
The Riesling Endschleife—named after the geographical feature "Enzschleife"—comes from steep terraced vineyards planted with old vines in single-stake training. The grapes are spontaneously fermented, aged in used oak barrels, and bottled unfiltered and unfined with minimal sulfur addition.
Olympia and Hannes’ Riesling from the Enzschleife exemplifies Riesling at its highest level: a playful lightness is combined with a powerful, vertical structure on the palate. The subtle, darker Riesling aromatics are intricately woven into a tightly structured body with cool minerality and fine acidity.
