Barranco Oscuro: Tres Uves 2016

  • €24,80

Tres Uves - three grape varieties - three times V for Vigiriega, Viognier and Vermentino.

Vigiriega plays the Spanish part in this southern European trio. For a long time one of the most important white grape varieties in the south of Spain, phylloxera put an end to it a good 100 years ago. The fact that it exists again today is due in part to Manuel Valenzuela, who rediscovered it among winegrowers in the Andalusian Alpujarras and replanted it. Vigiriega used to enjoy great popularity mainly because of its high basic acidity.

It is supported by Viognier, a variety from the Rhone that has also been resurrected to a much greater extent. It mainly contributes body and flavours to Tres Uves.

The cuvée is completed by Vermentino. This great variety of the Mediterranean region may even originate from Spain, but today it is mainly found on the Ligurian-Tuscan coast, in Sardinia and Corsica. It bridges the gap between the two other varieties, provides vibrancy and balance and also adds Mediterranean herbal notes to the flavour profile.

Style & flavours: Rich, invigorating & expressive. Citrus flavours and herbal notes are complemented by salty, mineral notes. The texture is tight and dense. Flows towards the palate in a focussed manner and without wavering. Finishes cool, fruity, engaging and long.
