Eugenio Bocchino’s Barbera: A Testament to Craftsmanship
Overview
While Eugenio Bocchino's focus is firmly on Nebbiolo, his Barbera is equally remarkable, crafted with the same meticulous attention to detail and artisanal care. Barbera has all the qualities needed to create extraordinary wines, most notably its naturally high acidity. Eugenio expertly harnesses this characteristic, selecting a sunny, clay-rich site perfectly suited to the grape and maintaining low yields to ensure exceptional quality.
Vinification and Aging
Harvested late and exclusively from perfectly ripe grapes, the Barbera undergoes spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged in large Slavonian oak barrels, allowing its complexity and elegance to shine.
Style and Aromas
Licorice, juniper, sour cherries, and earthy notes define this wine’s aromatic profile. It is simultaneously layered, powerful, and elegant, with a structured and juicy texture. Eugenio’s Barbera embodies all the attributes of a fine wine and promises to age gracefully for at least a decade.
