HP Harrer: Blaufränkisch Amphora
HP Harrer's Blaufränkisch Amphora is a testament to his dedication to showcasing the pure essence of both Blaufränkisch and the Lange Ohn vineyard. Using 350-liter amphorae from Impruneta, Italy’s terracotta capital, Harrer ferments the whole clusters, including stems, and allows nature to take its course. Over the course of 8 months, the wine undergoes spontaneous fermentation, malolactic conversion, and the formation of complex aromas. Afterward, the wine is carefully racked and bottled without fining, filtration, or added sulfur.
The use of amphorae, which impart no additional flavors, allows the true characteristics of the grape variety and terroir to shine. The result is a wine that is both authentic and transparent, free from the influence of wood.
Style
Clear and dynamic, with fine red-berry fruit and a subtle spiciness. This wine flows directly and linearly across the palate, exuding elegance and coolness. It rests on a tightly woven texture that promises to soften and mature beautifully over time. Its finish is invigorating and juicy, balancing complexity with drinkability, leaving a lasting impression on the palate.
