Aur-oura: The Entry-Level Wine from Rocco di Carpeneto
The Aur-oura by Lidia and Paolo is an outstanding example of the quality that Dolcetto can offer, even though it is classified as DOC. This voluntary downgrade does not detract from the excellence of the wine, which impresses with its complex character and drinkability.
The grapes come from the premium vineyards Gaggero and Vicario, thriving on clay and loam soils. The harvest is done by hand to ensure the highest quality. After spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine is aged for 12 months in used wooden barrels, steel, and cement. Regular battonage introduces oxygen to the wine, managing Dolcetto's typical reductive tendencies. The Aur-oura is bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfur addition.
Style Aur-oura captivates with its deep, ripe fruit, lively acidity, and vital tannins. The wine is powerful and juicy with a concentrated texture and a dynamic yet substantial character – a perfect everyday companion.
