Reitemp: The Top Barbera from Rocco di Carpeneto
The Reitemp embodies all the virtues of Barbera: precise aromas, vibrant acidity, vitality, substance, density, and a rustic, earthy undertone. The vines, planted in 1955, thrive in the clay and loam soils of the Vigna Rocco vineyard, situated at 270 meters above sea level. Harvest typically occurs in early October, done by hand to ensure the best fruit selection.
Fermentation begins spontaneously, as always, in stainless steel tanks. The subsequent aging period spans 25 months, primarily in large wooden barrels.
Reitemp is a term from mid-18th century Piedmontese dialect, referring to the "tone of bells announcing a storm."
Style
Cool, compact, and powerful, with gripping acidity balanced by a robust body. The wine features red fruit, floral, and earthy aromas that flow coolly and directly across the palate, lingering well beyond. It pairs perfectly with the richer specialties of Piedmontese cuisine.
