Rinazzo is a small hamlet on the eastern slopes of Mount Etna. Situated at just under 1,000 meters above sea level and with a view of the sea, around 2,000 Carricante vines take root there on exactly 0.3 hectares, yielding an average of about two kilos of grapes per vine. That isn’t much, but it is enough to dedicate a wine of truly high quality to this tiny patch of land.

Farmed biodynamically, the grapes for Rinazzo are harvested by hand, meticulously selected, gently destemmed, and then left on the skins for several days. Fermentation begins naturally and spontaneously; the grapes are pressed by hand in an old basket press (al torchio). The wine is aged in stainless steel tanks and, after six months, bottled unfiltered with minimal sulfur, before continuing to mature in bottle for at least another 12 months.

The result is complex yet inviting. A linear acidity sets the direction, while precise citrus fruit, herbs, star anise, and saline notes create tension on the nose and palate. Despite its apparent lightness, Rinazzo has depth, substance, and tremendous energy. It is only just beginning to learn how to walk, yet it already shows clearly what lies within.
