"Nur" means light – in Arabic.
Corrado Dottori from La Distesa had a distinctly Mediterranean wine in mind when conceiving the Nur. A wine with deep-rooted traditions, made without added sulfites.
The vineyards for this wine are located in San Michele, the Grand Cru of Cupramontana. The soil is based on marine deposits, rich in limestone. The altitude and continuous ventilation ensure adequate natural acidity.
The "Nur" is made from Trebbiano (60%), Malvasia, and Verdicchio, with a touch of Pecorino, which has been sporadically planted in the Marche since the 18th century.
Fermented in wooden barrels, the "Nur" remained in contact with its grape skins for about two weeks. It then aged for 12 months in wooden barrels and was bottled unfiltered and without added sulfites.
Style
The name is not by chance. It refers to something that can be sensed in the wine. Elusive and hard to describe, yet somehow understandable. The Nur is a wine that conveys warmth and sunlight, one that stays true to the essence of its territory. It is yellow-fruited, ethereal, restless, and full of tension, supported by vibrant acidity. It is just at the beginning of its development.
