The Alpujarras are a wild mountain region in the east of Andalusia. Characterized by steep valleys and a landscape that was crowded by rocks and Mediterranean bushes, their remote canyons and gorges in the 15th century were the last retreat of many Muslims that were driven out of Granada during the Spanish Reconquista.
The alpujarras remained isolated and secluded. Many of their former residents have moved to the cities of Spain. Manuel Valenzuela also went to Madrid in his youth. Then he worked there as a chemist, but returned to the Alpujarras in 1979 and founded his winery Barranco Oscuro at a height of 1280 meters.
In 1996 he planted a hectare of Syrah in 1996, which seems to feel absolutely comfortable in the desert-like and eminent day-night difference. The yield is minimal due to the often extreme conditions, thanks to the dry conditions, the grapes are always perfect.
After an meticulous selective reading, the grapes for the Rubaiyat were filled in stainless steel tanks and spontaneously fermented. The subsequent expansion took place in old wooden barrels, partly in the stainless steel tank. The Rubaiyat was roughly filtered, not beautified and not scale.
*Barranco Oscuros Syrah is dedicated to Omar Chayyam, the great Persian poet of the first turn of the millennium. He became famous for his four -line poems, so -called Rubāʿīyāts who often revolve around his love for wine.
style
Make pressure away from the tip of the tongue towards the palate. Despite its strength, is always straightforward. Build on close -meshed tannins that have integrated into the wine over the years. Sounds fabric and juicy.
