Nevio Scalas Malvasia pays tribute to the Cretan port city of Monemvasia. From there, a few hundred years ago, the first malvasiaszetzes were shipped to the "Serevublic" Venice, which Crete incorporated in 1204. To date, it is not entirely clear what members of the Malvasia family may have been. Because Malvasia became so popular in the Mediterranean in a very short time that the marketing experts in the Middle Ages then simply called everything that tasted somewhat properly. In Italy alone there are still 16 members of the family today, who are only actually related to each other in the rarest case.
Nevio chose Malvasia-Anestriana vines for its vineyards. They find slightly different conditions in the Colli Eugane than in their core area around Trieste, but also seem to feel comfortable in the somewhat warmer temperatures and in volcanic earth.
Fermented on the shells for over five days and expanded into cement cisterns for over nine months, the scraped wine is a perfect introduction to mash -fermented worlds.
