Moscato Bianco has been at home in the Colli Euganei for centuries, in Filippo Gamba's vineyards for at least 60 years. There, it takes root in lime-dominated soils and produces small, full-bodied berries. In Terreni Bianchi, these share the protagonist role equally with Garganega, the most important white variety of the hills with Moscato Bianco. The two grape varieties are harvested together and left in contact with their skins for three days. They are then pressed, fermented spontaneously, matured in cement for 10 months, neither fined nor filtered and finally bottled with a modest dose of SO2.
Contrary to what one might expect, Moscato does not exclusively set the tone. Its inherent fragrant aromas are present but subtle and never overpowering. The Garganega also comes into its own and contributes yellow-fruity flavours and a full-bodied texture. Thanks to the short maceration, the wine is grippy, powerful and lively.
