Röte is Daniel Schweizer’s Pinot Gris.
Over 100 days on the skins have given it a color reminiscent of a sunset—or perhaps a lava flow. Extended skin contact works well with Pinot Gris, provided the grape material is of top quality. This notoriously low-acid variety benefits from structure, and a bit of tannin suits it quite well.
When it comes to grape quality, you can be absolutely certain with Daniel Schweizer. Few winemakers we know work as meticulously and precisely in the vineyard as this young vintner from Stetten am Heuchelberg. His goal is always to integrate the monoculture of vines into the most biodiverse environment possible, resulting in vital soils, healthy vines, and perfect berries.
